Prophet Muhammad, Chakwal City, and Prophet Musa

"Did you go there yourself or only heard about it???"
"Yes. I visited there to witness that blessed site myself"
"Amazing! It is a blessing from God, indeed. I'm also planning to pay a visit within few days"
This is the conversation between two men, sitting around me in a public transport, few days back, [Saturday, 20th March, 2010]. Of course, when people sitting at a distance from each other talk aloud like that, it arises curiosity among others. A women in her 40s asked:
"Hey brother, what's the matter? What are you talking about?"
And the man, who planned to visit replied:
"Prophet's footprint appeared in Chakwal"
"The Holy Prophet???" The women asked with surprise.
"Yes!", the man nodded.
And then the man who has seen the actual place started to provide further details:
"This happened on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. All the area was illuminated due to this. There was that blessed light [Noor] all over the place. Now, they have build a boundary around that footprint and placed a glass-sheet over it, and the divine light is not that intense now. People were gathered around there, hundreds and hundreds of them, just wanted to get a glimpse of that footprint..."

Before you proceed, you may like to watch the video clip of that so-called "Miracle". See below:
While this conversation was in progress, my mind suddenly recalled the tale of Moses [Prophet Musa] as mentioned in religions scriptures. Jews, Christians and Muslims all believe in this story. Even if you talk about the movie "The Ten Commandments", taken from the Old Testament, or the Glorious Koran, you can read the almost similar version.
So I took out my Android phone, started the Application having the translation of Quran, and re-read the mention of Moses in Chapter 2, i.e. Al Baqarah [The Cow].
Let me quote the translation:
"And when We did appoint for Moses forty nights (of solitude), and then ye chose the calf, when he had gone from you, and were wrong-doers." [Verse 51]
And:
"And when Moses said unto his people: O my people! Ye have wronged yourselves by your choosing of the calf (for worship) so turn in penitence [i.e. repentance] to your Creator, and kill (the guilty) yourselves..." [Verse 54]
For those who don't know the details. When Moses went away from his people for 40 days [For worshipping in solitude], in his absence, a Magician created a calf in gold, with the power of speech. He told that this speaking calf is the actual God. Since, that was something extraordinary, people started to believe him and started worshiping that calf. Even when Moses returned with the message from God, the people refused to believe his words.
Now, why this story is mentioned in the Quran? No one among Muslims will worship a Golden Calf. Then why???
To me, it simply means that those who have weak faith will always fall for secondary and less important things, and hence, they will lose their faith.
Prophets and Saints are sent to this world to tell people about the acts of peace, love and humanity. They came here to tell people about God, how to reach God and how to recognize God.
Now, the condition of Muslim community, especially in Asian sub-continent is at its worst. If someone says that the name of Prophet or God is on so and so tree, they'll make that tree sacred, they will start praying there and all that useless activities. Our culture is now full of the names of God or Prophet on Trees, Clouds, Moon, on fruits, leaves, stones, Chapati, etc. Those things become sacred for them. They take it as a "Proof" that their religion is the true religion. Just a simple question for them: If suppose, they see the name of "Ram", the God of Hinduism, written on some of the fruit, would they start worshipping him leaving their own religion Islam?
If not, then it means that all these things are of no importance and must not affect the faith.
I really can't understand why God asked Prophet Mohammad to make a footprint in Chakwal in 2010...
Must be a very big mistake or misunderstanding we are having here. People have even made that icon sort of shape related to Prophet's footprint as a symbol of one of the sects. To me, it's no different than idol-worshipping. Islam never asked people to worship their Prophets or their symbols. Prophet spent 63 years in this world, and he must have walked on the very earth others walk. Does Islamic history tells anything like people considered that clay sacred where Prophet walked? If that's the case, then most of the clay of Makkah and Madina would have been covered by Glass boxes till now.
The story of Moses, in Quran only tells us that when your Prophet/Saint is away from you, stick to the path he showed you, and don't start worshiping the magic or the secondary things. Blessings come from following the right path and not by kissing the earth your saint walked on.
Then, again, sometimes I think that perhaps these people are not to be blamed. They are simple and ignorant. They believe what others tell them. They offer prayers, recite Quran, but they never know what it means. Holy Book was sent to be read and understood, rather than to be used as an object of sacredness.
After that verse about Calf, the Quran also says:
"Then, even after that, We pardoned you in order that ye might give thanks." [verse 52]
So if people ask for forgiveness for their wrong acts, God forgives them.
May God help us all follow the right path!
Amen!

  1. So true Knonie !! I guess one must leave aside the 'sawab' of reading Koran in Arabic for a while and must read it in Urdu or any language one understands, to get the real essence out of the Holy book and avoid this nonsense.

  2. It is so saddening to look at the extreme limits of ignorance our people have reached.=(

  3. The 'injaam' of these people is "Behhs-el-maseer" [ the worst place i.e Jahannam ]. just think about how this type of situation spoils the 'Belief' of people . SO we should take firm hold of our 'Imaan' and never let Satin misguide us.

  4. dont judge people even before you know them.. it is as same when people stop for celeberating Prophets Birthday..if i as a muslim will not celeberate than who will? a christian or a jew? lets be rational toward people love toward Prophet..than who else have acknowledged Prophets sign? why we cant treat each other as humans, & what a sign of Prophet cant appear now? if it can is it so worthless that we dont wonna witness it anymore..have you seen God? i heard it from Prophet only, and I love him for that..people wonna go and see the Prophet feet..its acting as inspiration..than whats wrong in it..yeah yeah they need some guidance..jump in and guide them but dont hurt them..dont speperate love from religion please..its just the buffer which i can write..

  5. Actually, the point is, this thing that these people are dying for, is nothing.

Have you checked out the video, and have you seen the overall size of this shape? It's far far bigger than anyone's foot.
Even puddles of water dry and create such shapes, but the way people are relating these things to religion is beyond my understanding.
If people love their Prophet, and want to see his footprints, then go and see his footprints, preserved in some museums. What the point of saying that mark as Prophet's foot? It's not anyone's foot at all...

And By the way, Celebrating anyone's Birthday, including Prophet's is not wrong, but these day, they started calling at an "Eed", like a New festival in religion, and I think we should not be playing with the religion. Celebrating any event like Mother's day, etc. is not wrong, but saying any event as a "Part of Religion" which wasn't actually a part of religion is not appreciated.

  6. Prophet himself was the religion.. get it.. who taught us Koran? who came all the way down from Wahi and telling us each word the same?u think he was ameeen for keeping some valuable ornamaent safe with him? than every bank is a better ameen..if u call Koran the religion than all of us including each Sahabi heard Koran from him..he was not only exception but the love himself.
many things are not precisely in Koran but are established but intellectuals..we question those? we stood up for industry waste? car burning fuels? hunger? than why whole religion stop for adding up prophet bday in it? yes i heard some saying that even al Khulfa Rashedeen never celeberated it..so what they are more credible than Mohammad? what Mohammad mean? a boundary less praise..what is wrong..let people live..with love..and Eid mean to celeberate..and lets take things very precisely out of religion and take at the scale of love..
and about the foot..many things are beyond understanding in life..and most appear in religion..the foot case can be wrong..but if its right..accept it..or what miracle dont happen anymore? or the creator love died to cause any more miracles? think beyond.. dont know where to start and where to end..be a critic but with encouragement and at large..how many people of that place you met? i mean Chakwal..i met dozen now..precisely for this case..talked with them..shared the view with respect.and showed them way forward instaed of snubbing them down for wrong context..and gave them better hope to read more about Koran..
one of those will visit Chakwal this weekend..hope i get info what was this..but again..hope,space and love..

  7. I pull out my android phone too and I quote from the Holy Beautious Quran:

    Bismillah-irrahmaan-niraheem

'Say "It is only He who deserves all praise. He will soon show you His signs and you will recognise them. Your Lord is not unaware of what you do.' [27:93]

'Say "Do you not think that if God were to cause the day to continue until the Day of Judgement, which Lord beside Him could bring you the night to rest. Do you not see (His signs)?" [28:72]

Please do not disrespect these people who are flocking to see the footprint/indentation. In them the passion for islam burns brightly.

It is upto you to choose whether or not you believe in this miracle. BUT you must not forget that fact that miracles like this ARE possible and will be seen throughout time. We should not get into quarrels as to which is genuine and which false. Let each occurance increase your rememberance of the Almighty and remember that Our Creators powers are infinite.

I feel that if we stop seeing and focussing atleast a little bit of our attention on miracles like this, we will become conditionned to this method of thinking and, in turn, be blind to the bigger and more prominant signs that are yet to come. So please, you choose for yourself what you want and what you dont but please keep in mind that signs are present and will show themselves throughout time, inshallah.

You mention that people are worshipping the footprint/indentation?? Can you please show proof of this? In the clip I see people praying at the footprint, but this doesn't mean they are praying to it, or worshipping it. I pray at my house, does this mean that I am worshipping, or praying to my house? No, it is just a place to remember Islam and the Almighty. If people pray to it or worship it, I would be against this, and this should be prevented. But dont stop people from remembering or praying to Our Creator, wherever they want.

Also, I have never seen any evidence of people worshipping the symbol/picture of the Holy Prophet's shoe. I would like to see if you can provide any evidence of your claim.

Thank you for reading. (I only intend for the good of Islam in writing this and hope we can find more unity as a religion. May Allah-talla forgive me for any mistakes or misguidance caused from that which I have written.)

Please remember to study Islam and learn for yourself to clarify any confusion you might have, it is your duty as a Muslim.

  9. First point, everyone has a right to disagree to what I have written because I simply shared my personal thoughts, based on my observations.

Rest, if we keep on arguing just for the sake of arguing, we'll end up fighting. Many points in the comments look sort of unrelated to me.

I don't consider this thing as a "Miracle", neither the "Signs for believers" mentioned in Quran. It is just nothing.

Rest, you may kiss the grave of your loved ones, forefathers, for respect, love and gratitude, but you don't call it a part of Religion. And anyone denying it would still be a good Muslim. While, when I denied taking this print as a miracle, someone on YouTube replied me that either I'm not a Muslim at all, or perhaps I don't have "Aqal". So, people actually think that it's now a part of belief to pay respect to that symbol.

Talking about proofs of worshipping symbols: What's the purpose of "Praying" at that symbol, as you can see in this video? It's neither a Grave to offer Fatiah, nor some Mosque or anything, then I don't see any reason even for "Praying" there. Isn't it worshiping that symbol where people are asking for their wishes, as they do in shrines?
All is fair in love and war-- of course not a statement by a religious scholar, but no doubt, everyone is free to express the love they have for their religious personalities; but if their form of expressions start creating confusions, and deviations from the path, and by the time, they become the part of religion, then I think they should be avoided from the very start. Wear Shalwar Qameez especially on Friday, right! But if they make wearing it on Friday as a necessary part of the religion, then it's not that right.

And I'm certainly not asking all of these people to think exactly like me. As mentioned in the last paragraph of the original post, you can see that I don't blame these people, because they are simple or ignorant and that's the only best thing they know to express love. I'm not depriving them of the right they have to express the love they have for Prophet.

    Peace!

  11. i am the anonymous one again and want u to know people pray at those certain points cause those places are pious..we dont pray at dirty places obviously..but we pray at the places where we feel a higher level of inspiration..dont call those people ignorant or simple..may be u r vice versa in thier eye..how cme u knw how many credible souls were standing there..and again its not about miracle..it can be wrong..it is to acknowledge that..n i think we are muslims and we wil acknowledge something for Prophet..or soon that all will be totally ignored..and its not about fight at all..its about acknowledgement..and love is part of religion..and religion fails if its 1% away from your social life..n again lots of love for you too..people need space to live.and some appreciation too..

  12. U people are ignorant. And i truly feel very sorry for you because although you claim that you love the prophet you actually don’t love him enough because when he came to this earth to let his ummah know that he is with you and don’t forget to follow his footprints and remember what he taught, u people simple turn your heads away and say that it’s not him .

  14. I just wanna say that it is just kind of new "FITNA" as these kinds of incidents often happen to misguide the people especially Muslims from their beloved religion.
Kindly do not take this incident seriously as it a new kind of ignorance.
May ALLAH bless us and save us from misguidance...Ameen

  15. i used to be a protestan but i converted to Islam 2 years ago. we read al quran in arabic because thats how its supposed to be, which is why it cant be changed, not even a word. we can understand the meaning of the verses through translations. i used to ask myself, if God is already God, then why do we need Jesus? yes muslims do pray for prophet muhammad but when we pray, we pray directly to god. but as a christian, who are we praying to exactly? God or Jesus? if Jesus is the middle person, then why is that? just because he's God's son doesnt mean he has power as well. imagine you yourself and your father, who's in charge, you or him? do you think your father would let you take control when he's supposed to be superior in the house? same thing goes to God-Jesus. aliff jackson ray abdullah.

  16. Yes Abdullah, your concept is so right...
Prophets and Saints come to deliver/explain God's message... So the first and basic thing is to follow God, and don't start worshipping those saints. They are indeed highly respectable, but they are humans.
